Gail bounces back with a new diary after a spell under the weather.

Gail: Hi, it’s Gail. I haven’t done a diary for a long time. Well, I’d say about maybe there or four weeks, as I haven’t just been feeling myself. I sort of started off with what I thought was a cold but then it never seemed to materialise and then I just felt really under the weather and really tired and lethargic and I had a bad chest and my breathing was funny. So yeah, every time I went out for a walk I got really breathless which is not like me.

So anyway, I seem to be picking up now and the breathlessness has disappeared so it looks like I just had a virus of some sort. So yeah, so I’m back to normal.

I don’t go the doctors very often as I don’t really like doctors and medication and I had a neurologist appointment the other week and I mentioned some of the things that had changed with me. Like my balance has gone more wonky on my bad days and the feeling of being on a ship on the rough sees comes in and, so I mentioned that and I mentioned about I get nightmares and I get dreams but they’re not like a dream. Well, they are, it’s like it’s already happened and it was like the other-the other week, it were like in my dream I was taking my daughter to the airport but I’d already done that when she was about, I think about ten or eleven years old. Cos she was going to visit her Aunty and it was just like I was re-living. Yeah, it were really strange and I do get nightmares as well. Just the odd one or two seems to crop up every now and again, just to disturb me and yeah steps, I can’t do stairs anymore and coming down steps is quite funny and I mentioned this to the neurologist and I said ‘do you think it’s the dementia that, you know’ and she said ‘no, no, I don’t think it’s anything to do with that. I’ve never heard of this before.’

Which I found quite strange because when I discussed it with-with one of the groups that I joined. Most people already had those symptoms or was having those symptoms and so I find it strange that these medical professional people don’t seem to realise what our symptoms are, but there you go. We are the ones that-that’s living with our symptoms of our dementia and they’re all different and everybody’s different and we’re not all the same. So I just thought I’d-I’d share that with you. We’re not all the same, all our symptoms are different and that’s why it’s our dementia.

So, thank you very much for listening to me and I will speak again soon. So bye for now. Have a lovely day. Bye.
